Soccer and me

Football and me, I do not know where to begin. Actually there is not much to talk about. I am one of these girls that have no clue what so ever about soccer. One of the first memories I have from soccer is Saturday when I was a kid. Saturdays was the day where everybody in the family was gathered. This was in the early days when there was only one TV channel on Norwegian TV. So while my mother was making pizza, which we eat every Saturday, the TV was on and it was showing soccer. That is a good memory of soccer, but I guess the memory had nothing to do with the soccer, more about the fact that we were all together.

Like I said, I do not have a special relationship to football except that I think it is really boring. I do not get the excitement of watching 22 sweaty men running back and forth on field hunting a ball. Actually watching sweaty men I do not mind if they are good looking and sometimes they are and that fact could make me watch a little bit soccer. Still I do not watch the game, just the men. Perhaps that is why soccer is such a popular sport because men like to watch sweaty men? Hmm…

I have watched two whole soccer games in my whole life. One was actually a bit interesting. The playing teams were the Norwegian national team against Brazil’s team. The reason why it was interesting was that Norway won, normally they are really bad, but that time they were really good. The second game I watched was a game the national Swiss team was playing. It was during the World Championship in 2006 and I spend the summer in Switzerland. People were really excited and every time they won the whole city where I lived was a big party, so the reason why I was watching this game was; I was hoping for a party. Guess what happened. They lost and no party, so that is the last soccer game I am ever going to watch.

Well I guess we are on the same boat. From where I grew up in Texas soccer was a big thing but we never went to a game. Then we get here to Minnesota and guess what my two oldest daught fall in love with two guys that play soccer. My oldest married one of them and GUESS WHAT now we go and see them play but ask me if I understand the GAME NOPE NOT YET. Enough about me yaking. It's nice that you remember your family time even though you never understood SOCCER.
